Obituary
Charles M. Holmstrom (“Charlie” or “Chuck”) 68 years old, passed away in Raleigh, North Carolina, on April 10, 2024. He was born on February 22, 1957, in Rockford, Illinois to Marcia and John T. Holmstrom, Jr., the fifth of their six children.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents, his sister Johanna (Ray) Gustafson, his niece Hunter Frankfort, and his brother-in-law Alfred Lopez.
He is survived by his siblings John (Barbara) Holmstrom of Rockford, Illinois, Leslie (Philip) Frankfort of Tucson, Arizona, Judith (Alfred-deceased) Lopez, of Austin, Texas, and Lisabeth (Kirk) Lockhart of Paxton, Illinois, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their special appreciation and thanks to Charlie’s wonderful friends Mary Alice Burton and Celeste and Bill Honaker, for their selfless caring and support.
Charlie attended Rockford Guilford High School where his presence on the front row of the bleachers for basketball games was frequently acknowledged by the referees. He attended a couple of years of college, became a skilled woodworker, and volunteered at New Life Camp, but Charlie reserved his real passion for the Chicago Cubs and Duke University Basketball.
He was a gentle soul.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Scandinavian Cemetery in Rockford, IL.
