George X. Buhl 1931—2021

George Xavier Buhl, 90, of Rockford, IL, passed into eternity surrounded by his family on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Swedish American Hospital. Born May 5,1931 the son of George and Mildred (Kline) Buhl. Graduate of Lake Forest College receiving his Bachelors of Education, later receiving his Master's degree from the University of Illinois. George married Nancy (Norman) Buhl on December 27, 1969. George taught U.S. History and Social Studies for 37 years at Roosevelt and Jefferson. George also enjoyed and coached tennis and basketball. In his spare time, he loved to fish, play tennis and watch the Cubs and Bears. Survived by his wife, Nancy (Norman) Buhl; children, Bill (Reneé) Buhl of Rockford, IL, David Buhl of Daytona Beach, FL, Sarah (John) Uhlir of Hilliard, OH, Jim (Margaret) Buhl of Rockford, IL, Nikki (Mike) Price, of Bloomington, IL, and Mike (Jessica) Buhl of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Joe (Rachel) Tulley, Erin (Paul) Jurevicius, Alli (Kyle) Gold, Jennifer (Jeff) Tippy, Meredith Uhlir, Holly Buhl, Lauren Buhl, Libby Price, Katie Price, Taylor Buhl and Georgia Buhl; and seven great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews. Predeceased by his parents; and daughter, Susan Tulley.

A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
