Obituary

HELEN VIRGINIA BERG, 81 ROCKFORD - Helen Virginia Berg, 81, of Rockford, died at 1:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born Aug. 24, 1932, in Rockford, the daughter of Alfred and Olga (Anderson) Magnuson. Graduate of East High School class of 1950. She married Franklin Berg Oct. 26, 1968, in Rockford. Helen was a bank teller at Amcore Bank for 30 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and participated in church counsel, bringing communion to shut-ins, and Sarah Circle. She enjoyed bowling and loved watching her grandchildren's sports activities. She is survived by her husband, Frank; daughters, Laura Klotz of Pewaukee, Wis., Janet (Curt) Buss of Leaf River, and Karen (John) Weidner of Green Bay, Wis.; grandchildren, Kelly and Lauren Klotz, Amber and Bryce Henninger; brother, Jerry (Dolores) Magnuson of Rockford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. David Krans of Rockford, Mary Ellen (Emery) Bartle of Pheonix, Ariz., Ted (Joyce) Berg of Argyle, Ill., Gordy (Sue) Berg of Rockford, and John (Paula) Berg of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister, Genevieve Krans. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, in Zion Lutheran Church, 925 Fifth Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Michael Thomas officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
