Irene Johnson Obituary
Irene Johnson, 90, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

She was born on August 19, 1934, in Rockford, the daughter of Hjalmer and Margit (Norman) Ek.

Irene was a graduate of East High School, Class of 1952. Irene earned her X-Ray Technologist certificate From Swedish American Hospital in December of 1954.

She married Richard "Dick" Johnson on August 4, 1956. Irene was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church. She worked at the Rockford Clinic and Woodward Governor Company for many years as an X-ray Technologist and secretary to the medical director. She retired in 2002.

Irene enjoyed golf, gardening, family, pets and hosting holidays for the family. She was active in her church Circle. She stayed active with her high school friends through her potluck and lake groups. She enjoyed trips to Door County and Northern Wisconsin.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Dick, sister-in-law Marie Samuelson and two grandchildren, Lauren and Tyler.

She is survived by her two sons, Greg (Suzanne) Johnson and Brent (Joann) Johnson, and grandchildren, Mark, Jack, Claudia and Lisa Johnson.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, 225 South 3rd St., Rockford with Vicar Leslie Aska officiating. Visitation from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
