SHAWN'S OBITUARY
ROCKFORD – Shawn Burton Alms, age 39, of Rockford passed away peacefully surrounded by family Thursday April 14, 2022. Born in Rockford on January 18, 1983 to Gregory Louis & Dawn Carol Alms (Williams).

A graduate of Roosevelt High School, he participated in many sports such as soccer, baseball and bowling. A social butterfly, Shawn made many friends during his time in & outside of school, many of whom he remained close throughout his life. He joined the workforce as a Glazier and worked at Cardinal Glass for many years. He loved his job and co-workers very much, and always managed to laugh no matter what they were doing. He never failed to make people smile and many found his happiness to be contagious. Considered a “Jack of all Trades” by his family & friends, Shawn could fix most, if not all issues around his and others' homes with ease. He enjoyed the family lake house, fishing with his mother, siblings, daughters and close friends. A dedicated fan to the Packers, Blackhawks and Cubs, he loved spending weekends grilling out and watching whatever sports he could find. Shawn lived a full life with much adventure & mischief, getting into trouble with his mother on occasion, but never a time it didn’t end in memories to be laughed about. He left his mark on this world with the happiness he shared and the memories he etched in our minds, even those not quite as close with him find it hard forgetting someone as amazing as Shawn. Beloved father, son, uncle, brother and dear friend; he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is lovingly remembered by his beloved daughters, Natalie & Paige Alms; mother, Dawn Alms; siblings, Carol Bunting, Mark (Lisa Kalen) Lindquist, Maria (Frains) Vivela and Anita (Matthew Woodfolk) Alms; mother of his daughters, Cathy Hayward; nieces & nephews; Jason Hoffman, Kari Bunting, Samantha (Justin) Neff, Adrian (Katie Reiling) Alms, Ian Stocker, Ethan Vilela, Anahi Vilela and Matthew ‘Morgan’ Woodfolk; great nieces & nephews, Arianna Moeller, Tristan Maurchie, Selena Rodriguez, Dayvin Oliver and Julian, Walter & Miles Alms; and beloved pets, Jade, Apollo, Miley, Stella & Sadie. He is predeceased by his father, Gregory Alms; grandparents, Walter (Eleanore) Williams and Burton (Lois) Alms; niece, Amanda Hoffman; nephew, Ryan Helm; and numerous aunts & uncles.

Funeral Services held Monday April 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 2:00 pm. Interment at Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford. Memorials to the family.
