Obituary

Bradley “Brad” John Carlson, 74, died at home on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Born August 16, 1947, in Rockford, the son of Burdette H. and Gladys H. (Nelson) Carlson. Veteran of the U.S. Army. Brad married Charlene “Char” J. Larson on June 2, 1972. He worked at National Lock for 18 years, President/Owner of KD Service Company, Director of Facility at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center and then Director of Facilities at Rosecrance. Brad was a member of First Free Church where he was involved with building the current location, worked audio for Summerwood and choir programs, and was past chairman of the Properties Commission.

Survived by his wife, Char; children, David Carlson of Rockford and Karin (Jason) Glenn of Elmhurst, IL; granddaughters, Emily and Jordan; siblings, Keith (Gail) Carlson and Joyce Hultman; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents. The family would like to add a heartfelt thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice.

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at First Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, with Pastor Bertie Holmgren officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. We respectfully request masks be worn to protect the vulnerable among us. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
