Obituary

Beverly “Bev” Baumgardner went to her heavenly home Thursday, June 22, 2023. Beverly was born July 11, 1933, in Rockford to William and Margaret Gyllenswan. She worked at Baumgardner’s Drug Store as a teenager where she met and fell in love with her husband C. Allen “Al” Baumgardner. They were married in a romantic elopement April 6, 1950. Beverly was born again July 5, 1971 and was confident that it was by God’s transforming grace that she and Al celebrated their 73rd Anniversary this year.

Beverly was a wife and mother who shared her testimony of God’s life-changing grace with individuals, and through Stonecroft Ministries – Women’s Clubs and Bible Studies. She had sales careers at Rockford Newspapers, Sears, and AAA Chicago Motor Club where she was recognized with many awards as a sales leader. In later years, she enjoyed participating with her husband in Lifescape and Belvidere’s Keenage Center activities.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Allen; two daughters, Susan (James) Engle of Prior Lake, MN and Cindy Baumgardner of Rockford; two grandchildren, Sara (Steven) Anderson of Prior Lake, MN and James Allen (Rhonda) Engle of Maple Grove, MN; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Anderson, Jacob Engle, Noah Anderson, James Engle, Jr., and Jadalyn Engle; two brothers, Gary (Marge) Gyllenswan of Rockford and Tom (Mary) Gyllenswan on Rockford; and nephew, Douglas (Jane) Anderson of Timnath, CO. She is predeceased by her parents; and special grandparents, Carl and Martha Trank.
