Obituary

ylvia A. Mattson, 82, of Byron (formerly Rockford) passed away Tuesday September 21, 2021 at Generation at Neighbors Nursing Center. Sylvia was born on November 5, 1938 in Rockford, the daughter of Anthony and Martha (Danielson) Tortorice. Sylvia was a Beautician with a shop in her home; she enjoyed doing crafts, floral arrangements and loved spending time with her family. She will be missed by her daughter Karin (Jose) DeAvila; son Brian (Laurie) Mattson; grandson Jose Manuel; granddaughter Adriana (Derick); great-grandson Anthony; sister Carol; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her favorite companion “Sparky”. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Martha; sister Paulette. Private family graveside services to celebrate Sylvia’s life will be held at Scandinavian Cemetery.
