Obituary

Carol M. Lind, 91, of Rockford, passed away peacefully and was lovingly reunited with her husband on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born November 25, 1930 in Rockford, the daughter of George and Florence (Carlson) Greenberg. Graduate of East High School, Class of 1948 and Rock Valley College in 1983. Carol married Carl E. Lind on September 8, 1951. He predeceased her on January 9, 2019. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church for over 50 years. At the age of 70 she received her Massage Therapy License. Carol enjoyed the arts, attending RSO, community concerts and Starlight Theater. She was a member of Natural Land Institute, Khlem Arboretum and Midway Village. Carol enjoyed everything outdoors and was a master gardener. She was a quilter, artist, voracious reader, volunteer, a lifelong learner and enjoyed traveling.
Survived by her children, Susan (Mike) Piippo, Lisa (Curt) Ippolito, and Chuck (Michele) Lind; grandchildren, Joanna (Matt) VonDerohe and Mark Piippo; and great-grandson, Lincoln VonDerohe. Also predeceased by her parents; sister, Shirley Eckman; and brother, Bob Greenberg. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Fairhaven for the compassionate care given to Carol and to Northern Illinois Hospice for their end-of-life care.
