Obituary

Joyce Marie Hansberry 47, Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2005, after a lengthy illness. Joy, born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on July 27, 1957, was the daughter of Charles H. and Reba (Lee) Sandusky. She moved to Rockford, Illinois as a child, where she later met and married John, her husband of twenty-five years. Joy's great passion was her family and their well being, which she encouraged and protected as a proud homemaker. The family moved to Indianapolis in 1990, where Joy was an assistant teacher at The Beth-El Zedeck Early Childhood Center. In 1997, she and her husband began Century Gasket Corporation where Joy was actively involved in her position as vice-president of the company. Joy's strength, courage and warm spirit are a true inspiration, not only to her family, but to everyone that came to know her during her lifetime. Joy is survived by her husband, John P. Hansberry, III; daughters, Tracey M. (Alexander) Redd of Tipton, Indiana, Megan A. (James) Poisel of Miami, Florida, and Sarah C. Hansberry of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Kathleen E., Alexander E., Jr., and Lucy M. Redd; father, Charles H. Sandusky of Rockford, Illinois; brother, Ric G. (Cheryl) Sandusky of Lebanon, Illinois; sister, Brenda L. (William) Parson of Rockford, Illinois; and one niece and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Reba Sandusky. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, Telephone 317-925-3800. Joy's ashes will be later scattered by the family in a private ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Joyce M.
