Obituary

Carolyn A. Peterson, 90, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Born February 13, 1933, in Rockford the daughter of Armour L. and Gladys A. (Magnuson) Carlson. Graduate of East High School, Class of 1951. Carolyn married Richard W. Peterson on February 6, 1953. He predeceased her on May 2, 2009. Her life was characterized by her love and devotion to God and her family. Carolyn’s greatest joys in life were her husband, children, and grandchildren, whom she loved so much and so well. She lived a long and meaningful life, was a gentle mother and grandmother and always faithful in prayer. Carolyn was known for her selflessness, radiant joy, loving kindness, delicious Scandinavian treats, and all things Swedish.

Survived by her children, Daniel (Audrey) Peterson, Mark Peterson, Kathleen (Charles) Greenland, Diane (Brian) Wheeler and Armour (Beth) Peterson, and; grandchildren, Carl (Samantha), John, & Kerstin Peterson, Bradley (Kara) Peterson, Elizabeth (Mark) Wallen and Heidi Greenland, Christina, Elaina & Grant Wheeler, and Britta, Benjamin (Abby) & Annika Peterson; four great-grandchildren; brother, Ted Carlson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; and sister, Jane E Borden.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford with Pastor Lisa Abb officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Community Church of Roscoe, Mt.
