Obituary
ROGER NATHANIEL PALMER, 80 ROCKFORD - Roger Nathaniel Palmer, 80, of Rockford, died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born June 7, 1932, in Rockford; the son of Gosta Nathaniel and Linnea (Larsson) Palmer. Graduate of East High School, Class of 1954. Served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was drafted for the 5th Army Band. He married Miriam E. Klint March 31, 1956, in Rockford. Roger was the president/owner of OPT Tool, Inc. Member of First Evangelical Free Church, where he was an usher for many years and participated in the Maranatha Sunday School Class. Also former member of The Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, and the president of Greater Rockford Tool & Machining Association for two years. He is survived by his wife, Miriam; sons, Barry (Janel) Palmer of Roscoe, Russell Palmer of Rockford, and David (Tracy) Palmer of Cherry Valley; grandchildren, Jonathan, Courtney, Brett, and Erin; sister, Dorothy (John) Carlson of Rockford; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Beatrice (John) Ring and Carol Klint of Rockford; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins here and in Sweden. Predeceased by brother-in-law, Warren Klint. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, in First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd., with Revs. Chuck Rife and Glenn Johnson officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery at a later date. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kids Around the World, 2424 Charles St., Rockford, IL 61108; or, First Evangelical Free Church Missions, or charity of donor's choice.
