Obituary
Alice M. Pampe, 87, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Javon Bea Hospital. Born March 9, 1934, in Olney, IL, the daughter of Roscoe and Marjorie (Weesner) Wisner. Alice married James Pampe on October 3, 1954. He predeceased her on February 6, 1991. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University with her Bachelors Degree and from Northern Illinois University with her Masters Degree. Alice was a Home Economics Teacher for RPS 205 since the 1960s. She taught at Jefferson Junior High School and Jefferson High School before retiring in 1989. She was a member of Second First Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Teaching Sorority, Delta Zeta Sorority, two golf groups, and Wildflowers Garden Club. Alice had a wonderful group of friends. She volunteered at RMH for over 40 years and in the 60’s was a member of the” Welcome Wagon”. Alice enjoyed water and snow skiing and boating on the Mississippi and Kentucky Lake. She was also a seamstress making drapes, clothing and wedding dresses. Survived by her children, Doug (Kathy Sherer-Pampe) Pampe of Rockford and Barb (Bob) Smith of Roscoe; grandchild, Ryan Smith; and brother, Jim Wisner. Also predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Don Wisner and Alwyn Lechner.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Second First Church, 318 N. Church St., Rockford, with Rev. Rebecca White Newgren officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
