Obituary
Doris V. Wright, 94, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at her daughter’s home. Born September 25, 1927, in Rockford, the daughter of Anton V. and Esther (Melin) Erickson. Graduate of West High School. Doris married Harold R. “Robert” “Bob” Wright on January 7, 1962. He predeceased her on August 20, 2021. She worked for Sundstrand Machine Tool and Graceffas Grocery Store.
Bob was the love of Doris’s life. Doris was an active member of the Komomoto Women’s Club at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she also taught Sunday school for many years. Doris taught Stonecroft Bible studies at several High-rises in Rockford and was a member of Christian Women’s Club. While working at Sundstrand Corporation she played on the woman’s softball team, even playing a game before the famous Rockford Peaches one night. Doris loved playing golf in her retirement years, she was on 2 leagues and she won several trophies. She and Bob made every Saturday night during their almost 60 years of marriage their date night. Holidays, whether summer or fall, were hosted at their home. She and Bob are together once again, we love and miss you both.
Survived by her children, Maureen Marshall, Stephan VanCura, Wendy (Sid) Moate, and Brad (Cheryl) Wright; step-children, Jerry Wright, Barb (Jeff) Martin; grandchildren, Jonathan (Sharon) & Jeff Person; Jennifer, Timothy & Matthew (Caitlin) Marshall; step-grandchildren; Brian, Tom & Paul (Christine) Drahiem, Greg (Annette) Wright, and Onica (David) Trevino; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; siblings, Vivian Erickson Brown, Ruth Erickson Henderson, and Erick V. Erickson; son-in-law, Ron Marshall; grandson, Dylan VanCura; and great-granddaughter, Tatum Marshall.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
