Obituary

Norlan H. (Arnie) Arensdorf passed away on May 2nd surrounded by his family. Arnie was born on June 6, 1933, in Springbrook, Iowa, to his parents Joseph H. and Marlena (Kilburg) Arensdorf. On December 28th, 1957, he married his loving wife, Beverly A. Walz in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. For 38 years, he was employed as an electrical engineer at Barber Colman. Arnie served his country honorably in the Korean Conflict as a member of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First Covenant Church. Arnie will be deeply missed by his loved ones, friends, and community.

He is survived by his children: Joseph (Nadia) Arensdorf, Cathy (Vito) Lotta and Susan Arensdorf; grandchildren Peter (Ruth) Arensdorf, Hope (Ian) Nelson, John (Cameron) Arensdorf and Julie Arensdorf, Lucas Lotta, and Marcus Lotta; great grandchildren Evangelynn, Jude, Liam, and Rowan; brother Robert (Patty) Arensdorf; brother-in-law James (Margaret) Walz; sisters-in-law Lavonne (Kenneth) Doss, Barbara Walz, Germaine Bobrowicz, Connie Walz and Sheila (Phillip) Levin; numerous special nieces and nephews. Arnie is predeceased by his wife Beverly A. Arensdorf; sister Lila Tigges; brothers-in-law Robert Tigges, Jack Erdenberger, Bernard Walz, Vic Bobrowicz, and Glen Walz; and sister-in-law Norma Erdenberger. Numerous special nieces and nephews. Special thanks and gratitude for the exemplary care of OSF nurses in triage and ICU.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Avenue, Rockford, IL. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Missions via the First Covenant Church, 316 Wood Road, Rockford, IL 61107.
