Obituary

JoAn Carlson, 92, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born July 31, 1930, in Odin, IL, the daughter of Harold L. and Addie Mae (Hodge) O’Brist. Graduate of Odin High School, Class of 1948. JoAn married Donald L. Carlson in November 1971 at Church by The Side of The Road, Rockton, IL. She worked for Avon and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. JoAn liked to bake and enjoyed giving pumpkin bread to friends and neighbors. She loved spending time with her family.

Survived by her husband, Donald; children, Doug Hayes of Rockford and Kim (Jeff) Ehrhart of Salem, IN; grandchildren, Sara (Adam) Harris, Matthew (Rachael) Ehrhart, and Joshua and Sean Hayes; and great-grandchildren, Cooper, Keaton, Piper, Sawyer, Sam, Madelyn, Hannah and Emily. Predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Harold O’Brist Jr., Billie Sue Owens, Pat Heard, and Jacqueline Osterman.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 925 5th Ave., Rockford with Rev. Dr. Michael Thomas officiating.
