Obituary

Ronald L. Fowler, 93, of Rockford, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. He was born on August 25, 1933, to Matt and Jean Fowler. He married Char Selgren on March 21, 1953, and she predeceased him after 63 years of marriage.

Ron was in the Army as a combat engineer, stationed in Ft. Campbell, KY. He graduated from Rockford College with a Bachelor's Degree, and worked for, and later retired from, W. A. Whitney. He enjoyed golf and coaching many of the sports his children played. He was a Sunday school teacher and attended weekly community Bible studies.

Ron is survived by his son, Michael Fowler; sisters, Donna Glendenning and Bernice Lindquist; nieces and nephews, Denise (Jay) Bielefeldt, Lisa Wilhelmson, Sara (Gary) Bunch and Brian (Jan) Selgren; nephews, George (Pam) Glendenning, Terry (Tammy) Glendenning, Kevin (Kim) Glendenning, and Doug (Jodi) Glendenning; many great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Char; son, Doug Fowler; brothers, Bill Fowler, Stan Fowler, and Jack Fowler; sisters, Bette Burman and Mary Gunderson; and nieces, Jan Heivilin and Kim Selgren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am with a visitation from 10:15 until the time of service, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Crosspoint Church, 3215 E. State Street, Rockford, IL 61108. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford.
