LUCILLE'S OBITUARY
ROCKFORD - Lucille C. Jacobson, age 96, of Rockford passed away late Saturday evening July 10, 2021 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center where she had been a resident for nearly 8 years. Born August 30, 1924 in Chelsea, WI to Martin & Leona (Rindt) Strombeck and was the middle of 3 daughters. Lucille graduated from Medford High School in 1942 and moved to Rockford shortly after. She became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford and worked at Woodward Governor during World War II supporting the local war effort. She married Leonard J. Jacobson on her 28th birthday in 1952. Lucille worked many years in kitchens starting at a neighborhood school (Buckbee) and moving onto nursing homes and finishing her career as a supervisor in the dietary department of St. Anthony Hospital where she spent most of her career. A member of the Dietary Managers Association she looked forward to traveling to their annual conventions all over the U.S. with her friend Shirley Untz. Lucille also enjoyed monthly bus trips to the casinos in the Quad Cities and Baraboo, WI with her sister, Glory Niemi or sister in-law, Helen Cook.

She is survived by daughter, Cheryl Jacobson-Keal (Dean) of Darien, IL; and sons, Bruce Jacobson (Mimi) of Rockford and Larry Jacobson of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Leslie LeBeau, David Jacobson, Lindsey Kinsey (Nate), Sarah Keal and Jacob Keal (Gabs); three great grandchildren, Ryan & Adrianna LeBeau and Samantha Kinsey; and numerous nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by husband, Leonard Jacobson; sisters, Marjorie Mueller (Oscar) and Gloria Niemi (Edwin); and her parents.

Graveside Services held Friday July 16, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Scandinavian Cemetery, 1700 Rural St, Rockford. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Memorials can be made to Fairhaven Retirement Center or Northern Illinois Hospice.
