Obituary

Roger L. Stout, 69, died at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007 at home in the loving care of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Mar. 26, 1938, in Edgerton, Wis., the son of Charles and Mae (Carlson) Stout. He married Carol Christenson Mar. 25, 1961. Roger served in the U.S. Army from 1961 " 1967 and was self-employed, owning two service stations and M.C. Tap with his brother for many years. After retirement he served the Rockford Public Schools as a bus driver. Roger was a member of Masonic Lodge 166 and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Christine (Tim) Hintzsche; son, Rick Stout; and grandson, Johnathan Hintzsche, all of Rockford; brother, Mervin Stout of Rockford; sister, E. Elaine Valdez of San Jose, Cal.; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, and brother, Charles (Bud). The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Harvey Einhorn and his entire staff, and V.N.A. Hospice for their care and support. A special thanks to devoted friends, Clifford Tennin and Jim Christiansen. A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, with Rev. Dr. Denver Bitner officiating. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
