Lois D. Peterson

Lois was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 8, 1930 to Oscar and Irene Dahlberg. She graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1948 and Augustana College in 1952. She married Robert V. Anderson in 1952 and they were divorced in 1966.

She taught music and elementary grades in Glenview, IL, Ottumwa, IA and Rockford, IL. She finished her teaching career teaching third grade at Hallstrom School. Her two daughters and grandsons were a great joy in her life. Through the years she enjoyed camping, traveling, golf, P.E.O, and puppy dogs. She and Del loved to travel having visited all 50 States and several foreign countries.

In 1983, she married Delbert E. Peterson and they were happily married for 38 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she directed the Children’s and Youth’s Choir and was a soloist for many years. Loie was Performing Member and Past-President of Mendelssohn Club. She was an Arts Council Member and Chairman of the Mayor’s Award Ceremony. Loie was presented the Mendelssohn’s Starr of Excellence Award in 1997 and RAMI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. She performed many “One-Woman Historical Shows” in story and music. Loie brought joy to many people through her musical abilities.

Survived by her daughters, Robyn D. Muff and Dana D. (Tom) Schreibel; step-daughter, Vicki Swanson; grandsons, David A. (Sarah) Muff and T. Brent (Kelsey) Schreibel; step-grandson, Mike (Becky) Muff; step-granddaughter, Diana (Kevin) Patterson; great-grandchildren, Thomas & Henry Schreibel, Connor & Kennedy Muff, Dillian & Delaney Patterson, and Lexi, Barrett & Cayleigh Harre; and many dear nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Delbert; sister, Marguerite Jensen; and son-in-law, Leon Muff.

Private family services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church Rockford. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. To share a memory or condolence visit olsonfh.com .
