RICHARD L. 'DICK' MILLER, 88 ROCKFORD - Richard L. "Dick" Miller, 88, of Rockford died at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born June 5, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; the son of Edward E. and Iva B. (Snyder) Miller. Graduate of Rockford West High School, Class of 1941. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Dorothea E. "Dottie" Amen on Feb. 19, 1949, in Freeport. Dick was a truck driver for Dean Food Co., for 37 years, retiring in 1988. Member of First Evangelical Free Church, where he was an usher and participated in the Maranatha Sunday School class and the SonRisers. He also helped with setups for the Christmas, Easter, and Summerwood programs at church. Survived by wife, Dottie; son, Brian Miller of Winston-Salem, N.C.; granddaughter, Jessica A. (Jim) Schneider of Hilliard, Ohio; great-granddaughter, Lily Ann Schneider; sister, Barbara (Rick) Cary of Huntington, Calif.; brother, Donald (Sue) Miller of Canyon Lake, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother, Edward; and sisters, Patricia and Penny. Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, in First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd., with the Rev. Chuck Rife officiating. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Evangelical Free Church. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd.
