Obituary
James M. “Jim” “Ozzie” Weber, 63, of Byron, passed away on June 18, 2025. Born June 10, 1962, in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of Robert D. and Evelyn A. (Gawron) Weber, MD. Attended Holy Family Catholic Grade School, Rockford, Graduate of Guilford High School, Rockford, attended the University of Wyoming prior to graduating with a degree in Mortuary Science from the University of Minnesota. Jim worked for Alnutt Funeral Home, Fort Collins, CO, married Julie Humpal on October 17, 1987. Jim and Julie moved back to the Rockford area in 1988 where he comforted countless families throughout his career at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, and was known for his compassionate approach. He loved his family so much and was always looking forward to spending time with them and sharing his passions for aviation, hunting, mountain camping and golf. Jim made his first hole-in-one just one week ago on his birthday. His contagious laughter will be forever missed. Jim was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Byron, Knights of Columbus Grand Knight of Council 4739 as well as 24th Degree Member of Assembly 190, The Quiet Birdmen, The Elks Club, and the University Club of Rockford.
Survived by his wife, Julie; children, Bailey M. (Nathan) Harr of Fort Collins CO, Shane M. Weber of Detroit, MI and Keaton J. Weber of Laramie, WY; grandchildren, Arlen, Evelina and Anders Harr; brothers, William (Susan) Weber, Robert (Sue) Weber and Thomas Weber. Predeceased by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford with Father Phillip Kaim. A public viewing will be from 9:00 am to 10:45 prior to Mass. Weather permitting, there will be a “Missing Man Fly Over” immediately following the Mass and a celebration of life following the fly over at Holy Family. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters
