Obituary

ROCKFORD- Jesse Floyd Heavin, age 84 of Rockford and formerly of Florida passed away Tuesday April 4, 2017. Born in Flat, MO on April 15, 1932 to Dewey & Iva Heavin (Huskey). Jesse was a Veteran of the US Army. He was self employed as a master carpenter for over 70 years, he loved to fish and was a talented singer & song writer. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing in local country bands every weekend in his younger years. Beloved father, grandfather, brother and dear friend, he will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by children, Dan (Peg) Heavin, Vernon (late Renee) Heavin, Dee (Tom) Schafman, Carl Heavin, Cindy (Brian) Steele, Randy Heavin, Janice Heavin and Sue Heavin; soulmate & mother of his children, Nancy Heavin (Hanna) grandchildren, Tonya (Steve), Sabrina (Chris), Ryan (Krista), Brittni (Kyle), Brandon, Melissa (Chris), Jenna, Lisa (Allen), Chrissy (Sheldon), Tabitha, Jessica (Steve), Michael (Brittany), Bobby (Anna), Zachary, Aaron, Hannah and Chelsea; numerous great & great-great grandchildren; brother, Bud (late Maxine) Heavin; sister, Judy Murphy; many nieces & nephews; and dear friend, Harold Smith. He is predeceased by his parents; sister, Frances (Art) Henson; grandson, Jerry Jeffers; and second wife, Janet (Johnson) Heavin.

Funeral Services to be held Monday April 10, 2017 at Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., at 1:00 pm with visitation from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Interment at The Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials to the family.
