NANCY'S OBITUARY
ROCKFORD – Nancy Maye Heavin, age 83, of Rockford and formerly of Rolla & Columbia, MO passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Saturday April 30, 2022. Born in Indianapolis, IN on March 19, 1939 to Bruce Bryant & Opal Dita Hanna (Martin). An avid gardener and animal lover, Nancy enjoyed tinkering in the yard, perfecting her landscaping, tending her flower gardens and feeding the birds. Beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend; she will remain forever in our hearts.
She is survived by children, Daniel (Peg) Heavin, Vernon (late Renee) Heavin, Dita “Dee” (Tom) Schafman, Carl Heavin, Cindy (Brian) Steele, Randy Heavin, Janice Heavin and Susan Heavin; grandchildren, Tonya (Steve), Sabrina (Chris), Ryan (Krista), Brittni (Kyle), Brandon, Melissa (Chris), Jenna, Lisa, Chrissy (Sheldon), Tabitha, Jessica (Steve), Michael (Brittany), Bobby (Anna), Zachary, Aaron, Hannah and Chelsea; 29 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by father, Bruce Bryant Hanna; mother, Opal Dita Thompson; siblings, Joseph Hanna, Alice Rohn, Robert, Kenneth, Wayne & Gale Stickles and Robert & David “Bill” Hanna; father of her children, Jesse Floyd Heavin; grandson, Jerry Jeffers; and beloved cat, Boofuss.
Funeral Services held Monday May 9, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Lincoln Wood Baptist Church, 705 N. Springfield Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 noon. Interment at Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford. Memorials to the family.
