William A. Johnson, DDS, 91, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Fairhaven Retirement Center. Born December 27, 1929, in Chicago, the son of Albert and Isabel (O’Connor) Johnson. Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Graduate of Northwestern University in 1951 and Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1955. William married Barbara Ann Wratten on June 4, 1955 at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in Chicago. She predeceased him on June 8, 2013 in Fort Myers, FL. William owned a dental practice and retired in 2000. He was an Evan Scholar, a member of Knights of Columbus and a board member for St. James Catholic Church and Boylan Catholic High School. William was a life-time member of the Winnebago County Dental Society and past President.

Survived by his children, Dr. Daniel W. (Marti) Johnson of Rockford, Eileen M. (Richard) Zalasky of Wildwood, MO, Kathleen (Joseph) McJohn of Carmel, IN and Kelly (Patrick) McAuliffe of Hicksville, NY; grandchildren, Benjamin (Lindsay Guthrie) Zalasky, Katherine (Jeff) McDonald, Emily Zalasky, Alexandra (Bridget Rose) McJohn, Declan & Niamh McAuliffe; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Hazel, Levi, & Asher Zalasky, Cormac McDonald, and Isaiah Lightfoot. Also predeceased by his parents; and brother, Ronald Johnson. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center for their support and care for our father.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., Rockford with Father Phillip Kaim officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church. Burial Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Evans Scholar Foundation Western Golf Association, 2501 Patriot Blvd. Glenview, IL 60026-8022.
