Obituary

Robert J. Taylor, 80, of Rockford, died at 11:10 p.m., Sunday, April 8, 2007, in his home. Born June 27, 1926, in Rockford, the son of Wellington J. and Clara Eby Taylor. Robert served in the U. S. Army as a Corporal from 1944 to 1946. Married Charlene E. Marshall Nov. 30, 1952, in Rockford. He worked as a service technician for Ni-Gas from 1952 to 1986. Member of Broadway United Methodist Church, where he ushered for many years and worked as a volunteer at the Food Pantry. Former member of the Moose Club. His favorite hobby was woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Charlene of Rockford; son, Mark (Therese) Taylor of Madison, Wis.; daughter, Charel Alberts of Cherry Valley; grandchildren, Kathryn (Nathan) Deinhofer of McKinney, Texas, Robert (Stephanie), Michael and Casandra Taylor of Madison, Elizabeth and Erik Alberts of Cherry Valley; great-grandchildren, Justice and Jenna Corbett and Allison Deinhofer, all of McKinney, and Riley Taylor of Madison. Predeceased by his parents, and sisters, Elaine Taylor, Leola Wright and Melba Taylor. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., with Pastor Ricky Georgetown of Broadway United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
