Obituary

Thomas E. Carlson passed away October 8th, 2021 in Tucson surrounded by family as he took his last breath and went with God and his mom that he missed dearly. He was born on May 28, 1957 in Rockford, Illinois. As a child Tommy found his love for playing drums and had the same drum set for 50 years. He graduated from Guilford High School in 1975. In 1986 Tommy moved to Tucson, Arizona with his family and began working at 49ers Country Club, Healthsouth Rehab Hospital and then retired from Davis Manthon Air Force Base. He was an amazing sous chef and continued to assist with cooking dinner almost every night. Tom loved to watch live bands play and talk to everyone and never met a stranger. He loved playing solitaire and playing games with his dad every night while they spent time together. Tommy had a spirt of an innocent child his whole life and loved and accepted everyone unconditionally. He was an amazing son, uncle, brother and friend. He is survived by his father Neil W. Carlson, sisters Kristen L. Cone, Kimberly S. Blunk, Kathleen J. Nebel and “honorary sister” Kimberly L. Akey and brother Michael N. Carlson. Please join us in celebrating Tommy on Sunday, August 14, 2022, 11am at Scandinavian Cemetery Memorial Gazebo, 1700 Rural Street, Rockford, Il 61107. Following the “Celebration of Life”, a light lunch and refreshments will be served at Neil and Jan’s favorite restaurant, Lino’s, 5611 E. State Street, Rockford, Il. You will be missed Tommy every day! We love you Bub!
