Jane E Larson, 91, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 6:25am at Serenity Hospice Home, Oregon, IL joining her cherished husband, Eugene in heaven. Born August 30, 1929, in Rockford, the daughter of Gustav and Bertha (Asp) Malmgren. In 1949, Jane married Eugene Larson of Rockford, IL. Shortly after getting married, they built their forever home where many memories have been made over the last 70 years. Jane loved her home and being fiercely independent could be found mowing her own grass at 86 years old and probably would have done it from her wheelchair given the opportunity.

Eugene predeceased Jane in 1968. After which, she raised a wonderful son on her own while continuing to work a successful sales career at Factory Supplies Company for over 40 years. Retirement didn’t slow Jane down. Keeping a busy social and volunteer schedule, Jane could be found volunteering at the States Attorney Office, Midway Village and Wesley Willows. When not volunteering she was organizing book clubs through CLR (Center for Living in Retirement) and enjoying lunches with her friends. She was also an avid supporter of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and enjoyed years of attending the concerts.

Jane is survived by her beloved son, David Larson of Chicago, IL; nieces, Sue (John) Altschwager of Boulder Junction, WI, Jody (John) Curtis of Rockford, IL, and Carrie (Stuart) Kruzan of Madison, WI; nephew, Brad (Debra) Malmgren of Lakeville, MN; and cousin, Bess Greenberg of Rockford, IL. Also predeceased by her parents and brothers, Richard Malmgren of Rockford and Gösta Asp of Jönköping, Sweden. Much gratitude is owed to the loving and dedicated staff at Serenity Hospice House. Their kindness and care were a blessing for Jane and her son, Dave during her short stay with them.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. with Funeral Services following at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford with Reverend Dean Parker officiating. Burial will be at Scandinavian Cemetery following the service. A luncheon will be provided at Mary’s Market (State Street) following the service and burial.
