Obituary

Phyllis A. Lind, 92, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Born December 9, 1930, in Rockford, the daughter of Verner R. and Lila V. (Olson) Bjork. Graduate of East High School, Class of 1948. Phyllis married Quenten W. Lind on August 2, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He predeceased her on September 11, 1983. She worked at Bill Doran Florist for 16 years before retiring in 2001. Phyllis was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was a Room Mother and active Scout leader when her children were younger. In her retirement years, Phyllis enjoyed working a few days a week at Fannie Mae Candy, playing cards, knitting, baking for her family, cheering on the Chicago Cubs and extending a helping hand whenever needed. Phyllis had a broad circle of friends, thoughtful relatives and many grandchildren she enjoyed spending time with. Predeceased by son, Jeffrey (2012). Survived by her children, Jodi (Jeffrey) Smith of Rockford, IL, Jill (Mike) Rathbun of Victor, NY, Jan (Darrell) Vincent of Byron, IL, and Jamie (Mark) Lawson of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren Courtney Smith, Ashley Smith, Stefany Bingeman, Angela Ryden, Adam Cannella (Lettie), Dylan Lawson and Haley Lawson; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21st at Zion Lutheran Church, 925 5th Ave., Rockford, with Rev. Dr. Michael Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00am prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Church. The immediate family will be holding a private burial service at Scandinavian Cemetery at a future date.
