Obituary

Lorraine Cravens Kubilus, 83, of Rockford passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012, in her residence. Lorraine was born August 20, 1928, in Grand Rapids MI, daughter of Joseph and Esther (Nelson) Cravens. She graduated from Kirkland High School in 1946 and married John Kubilus on January 22, 1949. She was an accomplished seamstress. She loved to plant flowers and enjoyed watching them bloom. She was the information center for all the children who needed family facts and figures. She shared her positive nature with all who knew her. Everyone dearly loved her and she will be greatly missed by them and especially her special friend, Jeannine Johnson. Survived by her by her husband of 63 years, John, 10 children, Theresa (Brent) Kallstrom, Mary Kazinka, Barbara (Arne) Larsen, Joseph Kubilus, John (Terri) Kubilus, Julia (William) Wagley, Christopher (Jeannine) Kubilus, Jennifer (Mike) Schock, Kathleen (Anthony) Shockency, Michelle (Dave) Kissick. Grandmother of 32 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 20 children; host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at St. James Catholic Church, 428 N. Second Street, Rockford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests in memory of Lorraine, donations be sent to the Northern Illinois Hospice, 4215 Newburg Road, Rockford, IL, 61108. Cremation Society of Illinois assisted the family.
