Dorothy L. Glans of Rockford, IL, passed away on August 14, 2021 at Bickford Senior Living.

She was born December 4, 1922 in Rockford, the daughter of Charles H. And Ragnhild Helin Carlson. Dorothy was a graduate of Rockford High School, class of 1940. She married Ralph C. Glans on August 23, 1941. He pre-deceased her in April, 1998.

Dorothy worked for the Rockford Township Assessors Office for 20 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Dorothy enjoyed working in her yard and gardens and was a longtime Cubs fan. She especially enjoyed spending time at the lake In Wisconsin . A loving mother and grandmother, she was proud of her Swedish heritage and shared these treasured traditions and recipes with her family

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Gail (James) Barton, Rockford, Linda (Edward) Lewis, Tampa, FL, Becky (Richard) Borden, Rockford; 5 grandchildren, James Swenson, Teri (John) Badell, Amy(Steve) Eckhardt, Chad (Angela) Lewis, and Matthew (Gretchen) Borden; 14 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by niece Karen (Stephen) Kahl, nephews Craig (Sylvia) Carlson and Chuck (Yuriko) Nordquist.

Dorothy was pre-deceased by her parents, husband, brother Russell (Elaine) Carlson and sister Delores ( Chuck) Nordquist.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the loving and caring staff and residents at Bickford Senior Living, which Dorothy considered home for the past 6 years, and to the exceptional caregivers at Heartland Hospice, who provided such wonderful support, knowledge and kindness.

As was her desire, a private family graveside service will be held at Scandinavian Cemetery.
