KARL AAGE ANDERSEN, 91 ROCKFORD - Karl Aage Andersen, 91, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015. Born October 1, 1923, in Ronne, Bornholm, Denmark, son of Jens and Thora (Lundgren) Andersen. He married Kirsten Folkmann on August 7, 1948, in Nylars Church, Bornholm, Denmark. Married over 67 years, Karl only survived Kirsten by three days; she died Thursday, January 1, 2015. They moved to Rockford, IL in 1952. Karl was a member of the Harmony Singing Society Club, Danish Brotherhood and was a 50-plus year member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Union. Karl, a highly skilled bricklayer, took pride in all he built in Rockford including the following which he was most proud of: the Rockford College Archway, the Sinnissippi Garden Clock, the Clock Tower and Harlem High School. Karl loved his family, his backyard, the Chicago White Sox, dancing the night away with Kirsten, Neil Diamond songs and relaxing with a Carlsberg beer and the perfect Danish sandwich. He was loved so much and will be missed by so many. Survivors include children, John (Bonnie) Andersen, Jim (Annette) Andersen, and Teresa (Thomas) Tomblinson; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Also predeceased by parents and 8 siblings. Private services for Karl and Kirsten will be held at their request. A celebration of their lives will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, at the Harmony Singing Society, 1104 15th Avenue, Rockford, IL.
