Obituary
Gregory T. Hoffman, 60, passed away on April 25, 2025 in his home surrounded by his wife, son and pets who loved him. He was born on November 25, 1964, in Rockford. He was the son of William and Kathleen (Johnson) Hoffman. He graduated from Judson College in 1995. Greg married Amanda Leslie on June 5, 1999. Greg worked as an Art teacher at Rockford Christian Elementary School for 11 years where he also coached basketball, football and soccer as well as served as Elementary Athletic Director. He then pursued a career as an LPN receiving his nursing degree in 2011. He thoroughly enjoyed nursing for 16 years working at Fairhaven Retirement Center, Cor Mariae, and most recently, at Heritage Woods of Belvidere where he cared deeply for his residents. He was very active at Temple Baptist Church where he accepted Christ at a young age. He also worked in Children’s Ministry and loved to play softball on the church team.
Greg is survived by his wife, Amanda; son, Joah; mother Kathleen Hoffman; brother Jeff (Michelle) Hoffman; sister Heidi (John) Larson; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father.
Gregory was a loving and supportive husband and father. He loved his large extended family and enjoyed making people laugh. He also loved to work outside landscaping and continued to enjoy art long after his teaching career. One of his very favorite things to do was to watch and discuss sports with his son. To say that he will be greatly missed is an understatement.
We want to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Northern Illinois Hospice, especially to his nurse Marti. Your expertise, kindness, and unwavering commitment to Greg’s comfort and dignity were truly remarkable. We are forever grateful for the support and care you provided to our family.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Olson North Main Chapel, 2811 North Main St., Rockford. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
