Obituary

ROCKFORD - Diane Elizabeth Benson, age 69, a lifelong resident of Rockford passed away peacefully at home Wednesday July 27, 2022. Born in Rockford on January 12, 1953 to Arnold & Mabel Benson (Mattson). A 1971 graduate of Guilford High School, Diane worked for many years at Schneider Electric and retired in 2018. She truly enjoyed shopping, traveling, music, plants & flowers and feeding the birds with her many bird feeders. She had a great sense of humor and was proud of her Swedish heritage, making homemade Glogg every Christmas Holiday. Diane will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by nephew, Bryan Benson; niece, Laurel (Curtis) May; great nephew, Maddox David May; sister in law, Jan Benson; and cousins, Karin (Greg) Haney and Kathy (Jack) Hildebrand. She is predeceased by her parents; and brother, David Michael Benson.

A Celebration of Life Brunch is planned for Sunday August 21, 2022 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Prairie Street Brewing Company, 200 Prairie Street, Rockford, 61107. Cremation rites accorded. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, IL.

The family would like to thank Serenity Hospice and caregiver Wendy for all they did in caring for Diane during her illness.
