Obituary
Carol Ann Stout, 81, of Rockford, was called home on Friday, May 19, 2023. Carol was the only child born to Harold and Elvera (Nelson) Christenson. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church where she was a life-long member. Carol attended Hallstrom Grade School, Lincoln, and East High School. Carol married her husband Roger of 46 years on March 25, 1961 and together they raised their two children.
Carol stayed home while the children were young and helped Roger and his brother, Charles “Bud” with the bookkeeping of the service stations they owned. Carol and Roger owned Top Dog Restaurant on Broadway from 1979-1987. Carol was responsible for the entire management of the operations. In 1987 she discovered her passion and love for seniors and worked at Park Strathmoor until 2001 when she decided to retire and devote her time to care for her family. In 2003 she returned to the work force at PA Peterson Center for Health and followed her passion until her “official” retirement in 2013. Residents, their families, and staff found comfort, care, and compassion from Carol during her 24-year career in long term care.
Carol enjoyed spending time with family and friends and gardening. Carol was a loving and generous daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who placed her faith and family above all else.
Carol is survived by her children, Christine (Tim) Hintzsche and Ricky (Tammy) Stout; grandchildren, John Hintzsche, Liliana Webb, and Corianne Block; sister-in-law, E. Elaine Valdez of Oroville, CA; one nephew and many nieces; her beloved fur babies, Riley and Missy; and very special family friend, Juanita. Predeceased by her parents; and husband, Roger Stout.
