Obituary

Louise M. Mayhall was 92 years old and passed away from natural causes on October 27, 2023 in Rockford, IL. Louise Christian was born in 1931 in Stevens Point, WI. In 1959 she married David A. Mayhall, a Rockford native who passed away in 2019 in Rockford, IL. David and Louise remained married till his passing.

Louise is survived by her sons, Chris L. Mayhall and Andy D. Mayhall, with nieces Nancy Mayhall, Dianne Brown, and nephew John Mayhall and wife Shannon Mayhall.

Louise graduated with a teaching degree in art education from The University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1953 and Masters degree in art education from Xavier University 1980s. She taught art in the Harlem and Rockford School Districts 1956-1994, taking off several years to raise her two sons. She was a long time member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockford. Louise was an active member, volunteer, and board member at the Burpee/ Rockford Art Museum. She participated in various art exhibits, including the Greenwich/Rockford Art Fair for over 40 years. She enjoyed travel, especially to New Mexico, which influenced her to focus on weaving. She was a prolific weaver and fiber artist. Louise will be remembered as a very loving, compassionate, and kind person.

A Celebration of Life for Louise will be in Wesley Willows at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
