Obituary

Marilyn V. Glans, 91, of Rockford, entered the presence of her Lord on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born on June 21, 1933, in Chicago, she was the beloved and younger daughter of Gust and Agnes (Rehnberg) Glans. Marilyn completed her education at Senn High School and Trinity Bible College (now Trinity International University). She devoted five years to teaching at Kenton School in Skokie, IL, before answering the call to serve with the Evangelical Free Church Mission in Venezuela, South America. For thirty-four years, she laboured faithfully, supporting churches in their Christian education efforts and church planting. In 1995, she was seconded to Awana Clubs International, where she established clubs throughout Venezuela, which continue to flourish. Marilyn was a steadfast member of Edgebrook Evangelical Free Church in Chicago for sixty years, and upon relocating to Rockford in 2002, she became a cherished member of First Evangelical Free Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Kenneth, and her sister Eleanor.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the enduring legacy of the countless souls who came to know, love, and serve Jesus through her ministry.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff, CNAs, and nurses at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center for their compassionate care of Marilyn.

A Memorial Service to honour her life and legacy will be held at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Chapel on September 27th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. A private burial will follow at Scandinavian Cemetery.
