Obituary

James “Jim” L. Milos, Jr., 86, of Rockford, passed away on September 28, 2024. Jim was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 20, 1937, the son of Dr. James and Helen (Lusnar) Milos. He graduated from Gage Park High School, Class of 1955 and attended college earning an associates degree from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona, Minnesota. Jim married Diane Alexander on April 23, 1960, at St. David’s Catholic Church in Chicago. Jim was married to Diane for 57 years when she passed on November 7, 2017. Their years together were filled with a deep rooted Catholic faith and a passion for raising their family. They enjoyed several ballroom dancing clubs. He served his community working at the State of Illinois DMV for 47 dedicated years before retiring at 84 years of age. While working at the DMV, he received several service awards and accolades. He was frequently recognized throughout the community as the “nice guy” at the DMV. Jim was a member of St. James Catholic Church where he was involved in fundraising and later attended Holy Family Catholic Church as well. Jim enjoyed community service and served as an election judge for years.

Jim enjoyed spending his time traveling domestically and abroad (and was a member of the Foundation for International Cooperation for years), playing cards including bridge with friends and many fun family activities. His family meant the world to him, and he will be dearly missed.

Jim is survived by his children, Dr. Jamie (Mark) Milos-Lung and Dr. Glenn (Mary) Milos; grandchildren, Ally, Natalie, Katie, Jimmy, Molly, Melissa, Shannon (Fanio), Sarah and Ashley; one great-grandchild, Silas; siblings, Gloria Nahnsen, Allen (Joan) Milos, Dr. Dean (Mary Ellen) Milos, Elaine (Mark) Schram and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; wife, Diane Milos; daughter, Lenore Brown and four siblings (Rosemary Kubik, Dr. Wayne Milos, Loyal Milos and Vivian Lake).

A Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, October 4, 2024 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am with a Visitation from 9:30am until the Mass on Saturday, October 5, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, IL 61111
