STELLA'S OBITUARY
ROCKFORD – Stella Irene Keena, age 99, of Rockford passed away peacefully at home Saturday October 30, 2021. Born in Rockford on June 7, 1922 to Alfred & Gertrude Amanda Peterson (Hanson). She married the love of her life Merle Ren Keena on June 10, 1939 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rockford. Stella loved baking cookies and was a proud member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Golden Agers Center, where she enjoyed volunteering at numerous events around town. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend; she will remain forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her children, Judy (Paul) Struven & Jerry Keena; numerous grandchildren & many great-grandchildren; and best friend, Dorothy. She is predeceased by her husband of 80 years, Merle Ren Keena; daughter, Sandra (Howard) Bellars; and grandson, Jeffrey Struven; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Celebration of Life Memorial held Friday November 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., Rockford, with visitation from 10:30 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Heartland Hospice.
